Zamberlan Pelmo GT

At 1868g this is the lightest 4-season boot we’ve tested by quite a margin, yet it is still a boot with plenty of stiffness in the sole, which is essential for winter walking on snow and ice. The upper is a very stitch-free leather design with a nice big rand to protect it from scrapes against rocks. The ankle cuff is a little lower than some, adding to the comfort when walking on the flat. The boot is close-fitting and rolls nicely on every step. Underfoot there is a good depth of lugs and good cushioning too. Use this for lightweight winter ascents and scrambling or mountaineering and it’s ideal. But the ankle cuff does mean your ankles are going to have to work harder on steeper terrain and the sole flex is a little softer than some others here, so this is not the best option for steep slopes or ice slopes.
