Zamberlan 540w Rise GT (2012)

A tough and sturdy boot and as a consequence, heavy. It doesn’t feel cumbersome, though, thanks to a great fit – with a narrow heel and wide forefoot – and a nice rolling action that seems to spur you forward. They’re well padded, which makes them feel very comfortable and supportive, but quite warm, too. An excellent lacing system spreads tension comfortably across the foot, and the high, very padded ankle cuff offers fantastic support and protection from knocks. A Gore-Tex lining keeps water out and helps feet breathe, and a well-sealed tongue prevents leaks. The tough split-leather and Cordura uppers offer great support and protection on rough ground and the Vibram sole provides excellent shock absorption. A chunky tread pattern grips superbly on all terrain and there’s plenty of lateral support too. They flex more easily at the toe than some, making them feel easier to walk in on easy-going terrain.
