The Meindl Burma Pro MFS is very popular and well-proven, thanks to the durable design and out-of-the-box comfort that have made it a Trail favourite for many years. You get a good leather upper with minimal stitching to ensure longevity, with a Gore-Tex waterproof lining to keep feet dry. Inside a memory foam lining ensures extremely high levels of comfort from day one. There is also a rubber rand around that upper to add extra durability, and this combination ensures the Burma can tackle rough terrain year on year. Underfoot a dual density Vibram sole unit provides excellent support and comfort while the sole flex and lug pattern are ideal for a variety of valley, hill and mountain terrain. Check out the Burma if durability, performance and comfort are what you need. But the price of the Meindl Burma Pro MFS feels high compared to its £140 price tag of 2008. It is also starting to feel heavy on the foot compared with newer designs that are able to provide the performance without the weight. It is still a superb option, though, and well-proven – but do you really need this level of performance?

The Meindl Burma Pro MFS is a classic hill and mountain walking boot, but others do have advantages in terms of weight and price.
