This is an exceptional new trail-running shoe that looks set to challenge the current leaders in the field. The Crosslight is very lightweight but also boasts performance-enhancing features. Firstly the upper is mesh for breathability but it’s not so open that it allows too much water in. Also, any water that gets in can be pumped out around the lower sides of the forefoot. The upper is reinforced to resist abrasion, and the laces are tucked behind an external baffle to create a very smooth upper that resists snagging on undergrowth as you run. The heel offers excellent support while underfoot there’s a good blend of support and cushioning. A studded sole should provide excellent traction on mud and grass. This is a superb off-road shoe for mud, grass and going off the beaten track.
The price tag is perhaps a little high and other shoes have more support and cushioning, making them better for long, slow runs on harder surfaces. Not a lot else wrong though and definitely one to consider if you’re serious about off-road running.
