These three-season boots are really quite big, which becomes even more noticeable after the padding compresses slightly. They’re also a little harsh on the ankle cuffs, particularly on the lower shin. Best suited to those with higher volume feet. The Peak is fairly substantial, with a very high ankle cuff that provides plenty of support but also makes it a bit heavy and clumpy for easy low-level going. The midsole is about right for all-round walking, and the full grain leather upper is tough enough to take a few knocks. The very breathable eVENT waterproof membrane keeps the water out.
Verdict: A fairly tough and supportive boot at an excellent price. Better suited to hill-walking, backpacking and trekking than easy country walks. Make sure you’re happy with the fit before buying.
