Berghaus Prognosis

New for 2011 these shoes have been designed with multi-function use in mind. As such they are something of a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. Inside there is plenty of room – around the heel and mid-shoe in particular – so better for those with wider feet. These do not have a Gore-Tex lining to them, so in wet conditions they quickly become sodden inside and soon gain weight, leading to a couple of large blisters. The sole is medium-stiff, and does offer reasonable amounts of cushioning on uneven ground with decent toe protection too. However the grip pattern was definitely found wanting in damp conditions with little grip at all on wet grass and mud. Overall, they are shoes for drier days where they function well and remain breathable.
